The Environment: Our Future

Global warming has somehow affected our lives in one way or another by now. It has become a sort of daily routine to learn about yet another major happening due to Global warming---mostly on the negative side.

Before finding out what are the effects of Global warming, we must first understand what causes global warming.

Global warming is the result of the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane increase in amount due to industrialization and the pollution caused by man, especially by the use of fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Greenhouse gasses trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth’s average temperature would be about cooler. It is this rise of temperature on the earth’s surface that causes Global warming to take place.

Surrounding the Earth’s atmosphere is a thin layer called the ozone layer. The ozone layer is the only protection for life on Earth against deadly ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Chlorofluorocarbon is the main cause of ozone depletion. Once the ozone layer is completely destroyed, all life on Earth will cease to exist, killed by the deadly radiation. The planet will become a barren rock devoid of all life.

It is this rise of temperature on the earth’s surface that causes Global warming to take place.

This ‘man-made’ phenomenon has since caused many tragedies across the globe. The effects of global warming are endless and the consequences behind it are too disastrous to be imagined. However recently, people have started to show much concern about this situation. But is it too late?

Droughts, natural disasters, increase of sea levels, melting of ice caps have cause great loss physically and economically. Could the development of our own community eventually lead to our own downfall? Gaia has already started to show warning signals and if we continue to remain ignorant to the situation, the human race could soon be wiped out. The impact of global warming is a threat to our existence.

Therefore we must stop this horrid destruction of our own environment before it’s beyond repair.

Before we embark upon thoughts of how we should protect our Earth, we should first consider what we are willing to sacrifice. It is not an easy task as it seems, to have a clean and green lifestyle. Lots of perseverance and determination is required. Without such values, it is almost impossible to maintain the eco-friendly lifestyle for a long period of time.

For example sorting out items at the recycle bin is considered a chore for most people. The easier and less time consuming alternative is to just throw all the waste into a single garbage bin. People these days just do not have the time and tolerance for things that is considered meaningless to them.

Therefore to make sure that everyone living being does their part for the earth, we must once again stress upon the negative and even irreparable effects of Global warming, time and time again.

It’s redundant but relevant.

Finally, let us discuss what everyone and anyone should do to prevent this disaster from eliminating us. I use the word ‘should’ instead of ‘can’ as it is our earth is already on red alert and we have no choice but to help save it even through reluctance.

Drive less. Take bikes, walk or carpool whenever possible. This is a great solution not only does it save money but it can also increase your fitness level.

Use energy-efficient bulbs that use fewer watts for the same amount of light. It is more expensive in price but will prove more efficient in the long run.

Cut down on your garbage. Buy fewer packaged materials, and recycle the packaging if possible. This will cut down on the amount of waste and reduce pollution.

Unplug electronics when they are not in use, because they still use up energy. These ‘blood suckers’ contribute much to the electricity consumption in most homes.

Bring your own reusable canvas grocery bags when grocery shopping. This is a great way to reduce the amount of plastic bags used, and is more environmental friendly.

Go for an organic diet. Organically grown crops are free of pesticide; therefore there will be no pollution of pesticide. Most of all an organic diet is healthier.

If you can’t be bothered to remember such a long list of ‘what do dos’ just remember the three Rs. ‘reduce’, ‘reuse’ and ‘recycle’. Just follow these three simple steps in your daily lives and it will be sufficient to keep the Earth healthy.

These are just steps and precautions to prevent further destructions caused by global warming. However it’s up to us humans to take initiative to keep up being environmentally friendly.

To ensure that we have a future, we must be the ones who protect it. It is 'our own responsibility.

today get to leave school at 12.00pm for NCC shooting. suppose to be quite fun. went there boarding a dusty bus wearing the thick hot NCC uniform[known as no.4]. while in the bus i yawned about 15 times. don't know why but i just yawned. *yawn*
oh finally we reached Pasar Labar Camp. while waiting to go shoot. i yawned many many many times! the shooting was ok lah. at least nev get zero. hit some targets but the score was still bout 3/2o--fail. haiz
but the most shocking thing was that i yawn bout 50 yawns today. no kidding. i wonder why. better sleep early tonight!

woke up @ the usual 0515 [dunno why so ncc, lol] today. very grouchy and sleepy but then i like going to school at a kiasu time. so anyway after eating two paus, went downstairs to take bus. the rest quite boring lah, just the normal procedures. oh yeah to day got to know about the sec3 camp. i got quite excited, especially about the shoes dunno why. its seems very cool to have six dollars shoes that's

as usual Friday is ncc day, a very lame and boring CCA. today is just as lame. however its the Parts C's hu is taking the unit. oh and Parts C's means sec3 if u dunno. anyway the usual suspects were the ICs. there were 4.

3 were trying their very best effort to control the entire unit, but one individual, was too demanding and vulgar.
every Part C's got pissed off by his attitude. me also no exception lor.
let me tell u how the whole ncc training for 1+ hrs were FLOODED with VULGARITIES.
i shall name him as FUSM for now.[future unit Sergent major]

1] everyone got ready to fall in and FUSM still seems unreactive. but do not forget he has not yet achieve the stable noble gas configuration. so it might still react

2] next step, i told the sec2s to fall in and so they did, nothing wrong with me or the sec2s. then FUSM came and VULGARITIED his way and demanded a reason to why they fall in. i told him... and he got nothing to say and then told us also to fall in too[trying to flaunt his power liao]

3] when all parts C's have fallen in, he came back. this time with vengeance! [err..no vulgar language in my blog so i hope u are well equip with ur arsenal of heavy 'vocab']
' what the **** are u doing, why u all fall in!!' he exclaimed. we were stunned and after tat dunno what happen lah caus everyone also pissed.

4] then comes the 2 round slack run around the school at the pace of a fast walk. remarkable they actually call it a run! while 'running' we were told by FUSM to move faster while he was the leading one and also insist to run slow so tat the slow members to catch up.

is the first time im posting in this blog, found this skin at pyzam.com tried other links such as www.blogskins.com but to no avail lol. the skins there are ugly or cant fit. i donno if u guys are using blogspot beta or the classic version. but i strongly reccomend u to use the beta[meaning u do not change to class wen u first sign up]. if u use beta u can use blogger XML skins. which is more convenient and faster.

-can change easily without touching html
-more fexible

err...i hope this helps, but if u guys already know it[duh?]
